Former Guangzhou Evergrande forward Robson de Souza, also known as Robinho, is reportedly being eyed by Swiss Super League team FC Sion this January transfer window as the club seeks to improve its scoring options up front.

The 31-year-old Robinho, who was acquired by the Southern China Tigers in the middle of July last year, recently became a free agent after opting out of his six-month short contract with the Chinese Super League squad.

He appeared in 10 games from July 2015 to January 2016 in all competitions for Brazilian manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's side, putting in three goals during the said time period.

Robinho is also instrumental helping Guangzhou capture its fifth straight CSL championship and a second AFC Champions League title. He is also part of the lineup that placed fourth in last month's 2015 FIFA Club World Cup, which faced the likes of FC Barcelona, Club America, and Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

ESPN reported that "Sion president Christian Constantin has reportedly flown to Sao Paulo to conduct negotiations with" the Brazil international, although there are no reports yet regarding the response of the 5-foot-8 São Vicente, Brazil native.

"Like with any transfer of this size, everything is very, very complicated," said Constantin.

Meanwhile, Sion general director Marco Degennaro have also confirmed the club's interest with Robinho's countryman Ronaldinho, who at 35 years old is currently a free agent. The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year awardee last played for Brazilian Serie A club Fluminense last season.

SkySports included Robinho to a list of players involved in "unusual transfer moves", citing his move to Guangzhou from AC Milan as a "left-field career move" similar to Jermaine Pennant's recent transfer to Singaporean squad Tampines Rovers.
