It has been 2 years since the launch of the iPhone 5c, and it leads to questions whether it would be the first and last model of colorful iPhone series from Apple. The latest rumors suggest that Apple is planning to launch a smaller iPhone for its customers. Previous reports suggested that name of the new 4-inche iPhone would be iPhone 6c or iPhone 7c, like the previous generations.
Times News reported about the latest leak of the 4-inch iPhone, which came up in a Chinese social media site. The name of the device, which according to the site, would be iPhone 5e and the 'e' here stands for enhanced. Many apple enthusiasts and fans are hoping for a new iPhone launch in March 2016, along with the latest Apple Watch. Until now, many thought that it would be an iPhone 6c, or Apple may settle with iPhone 7c name.
As far as the specs are concerned, the chance of getting the latest A9 chip for the 4-inche iPhone variant is very faint. According to Chinese website, the phone will sport the previous generation A8 chip that came with the iPhone 6.
Since it is said that the upcoming iPhone 4-inch variant is only an entry level smartphone, it will most likely be equipped with only 1GB of RAM. There are still hopes for Apple Pay, VoLTE and NFC, but it is not yet confirmed. The design of the new phone is expected to be similar as that of the current generation iPhones with circular edges.
There is also a rumor that the price of the iPhone 5e would be around CNY 3288 or an estimated of $500.
