"Grand Theft Auto" (GTA), an action-adventure video game developed by David Jones and Mike Dailly, continues to reinforce its status as one of the most popular game series of these times. Declaring its 2015 Q3 report this week, publisher Take-Two said they shipped over 60 million copies of "Grant Theft Auto V" globally across different platforms - Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.

While the sales of "GTA Online" also continue to surge, the video game publisher revealed that they had shipped 54 million copies in the second quarter of 2015 as of June 30.

While "GTA V" achieved a new milestone in shipment, it was not as much as necessary to aid in getting Take-Two into the black. According to Take-Two, the decline in revenue is partly owing to a tricky comparison to revenue earned in 2014, when the company gained significantly from launching "GTA V" for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, in addition to the launch of "Civilization Beyond Earth," and "Borderlands: The Prequel."

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stressed that games series like "Grand Theft Auto V," "GTA Online," "WWE 2K16," "NBA 2K16" and the "Borderlands" contributed to the company's revenues during 2015 Q3.

A report in Game Spot stated that the remarkable achievement of the best-selling game notwithstanding, the other numbers did not prove to be as successful as the "Grand Theft Auto 5." The company's reported revenues were worth $486.8 million at the end of Q3 on Dec. 31 last. In comparison, Take Two earned revenues worth $954 million during the corresponding period in the previous year.

Moreover, even the net income of the company declined during 2015 Q3 to $99.7 million, compared to $211.6 million earned in 2014 Q3.

Conversely, Take-Two's earnings from digitally delivered content earned revenues worth $213.6 million, contributing nearly 44 percent of the company's overall revenue. In addition, recurring consumer spending, comprising virtual currency as well as DLC, increased significantly to 45 percent year-over-year.

Quoting Zelnick, PlayStation Lifestyle reported that Take-Two enjoyed a great consumer demand for the recent game releases as well as catalog and this enabled the company to earn significant revenue during the quarter and deliver cash flow.

He said, "As a result of our third quarter outperformance and solid forecast for the balance of the year, we are once again raising our financial outlook for fiscal 2016, which is poised to be another year of meaningful profits for Take-Two."

Zelnich also revealed that they would launch 'Civilization 2 Plus' for PlayStation Vita before March 31, 2016.
