Chinese actor Jackie Chan received this week a new Embraer Legacy 500 business plane worth $20 million. It is, however, not his first jet since he got an Embraer Legacy 650 in 2012.
Chan makes Embraer history by being the first Chinese recipient of an Embraer Legacy 500 which is the latest model of the Brazilian plane maker where the actor is brand ambassador. In a statement, Chan said he is thrilled to get the new state-of-the-art executive jet.
The actor, who was named second most charitable Chinese celebrity by China Philanthropist magazine, said that with his new jet, he would be able to do more acting and philanthropic works around the world. Chan commended his Legacy 650 for giving him more travel experience and convenience, and added he hoped his new Legacy 500 would likewise be a comfortable office and mobile home for him, reported Business Insider.
Chan had his Legacy 650 painted with a dragon theme, using red and yellow colors. The new model, which has a range of 3,600 miles, is Embraer’s new midsize business plane that could accommodate up to 12 passengers, although most of buyers prefer the eight-passenger set up.
Powered by two Honeywell HTF5000E turbofan engines, the Legacy 650 produces over 7,000 pounds of thrust. It has a maximum speed of 0.83 times the speed of sound and could fly a maximum height of 45,000 feet. Its competitors are the Cessna Citation Sovereign, Bombardier Challenger 300 and Gulfstream G280.
Embraer Aerospace of Brazil is one of the biggest jet manufacturer in the world, making military, private and commercial aircraft.
Chan would be seen by his fans in the forthcoming action film “Skiptrace” which features him and Johnny Knoxville. The first trailer of the film was just released.
According to Wegotthiscovered, Chan play a character similar to a role he portrayed in a 1998 action-comedy “Rush Hour” where he was a Hong Kong detective. In the new film directed by Connor Watts, co-actor Johnny Knoxville is a brash American gambler.
