Last week, the mobile carrier Sprint rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its HTC One M8. Now, according to recent reports, Sprint's HTC One M9 is getting the Android Marshmallow update.
However, the update will be rolled out in phases. Therefore, users who do not see the Android 6.0 M update available for download on their device should not worry. They will get the latest Marshmallow update in the next few days, according to Sprint's support page.
For starters, HTC One M9, which was released in March last year, has a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels x 1920 pixels.
The smartphone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and packs a 2840mAh non removable battery. HTC One M9 measures 144.60mm x 69.70mm x 9.61mm and weighs 157 grams.
The mobile phone is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and has 3GB of RAM, according to a Digital Trends report. In addition, it has 32GB of internal storage that owners can expand up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. HTC One M9 sports a 4-ultrapixel front shooter for selfies and a 20-megapixel primary camera on the back.
The connectivity options of the handset include FM, 4G, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS. In addition, sensors on the HTC One M9 include accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and gyroscope.
Other HTC devices that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update include HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 820, HTC Desire 826, HTC One M8 Eye, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC One E9, HTC One E9+, HTC One ME and HTC One E8. However, several reports suggest that the HTC One M7 will not receive the latest update.
Android Marshmallow update brings a host of new features. These features include Doze, new app permissions and Google Now on Tap. The new Doze feature saves power and extends battery life by putting a user's device into sleep mode if it is inactive for a long period of time.
The new app permissions enable users control the access that apps ask for. With Now on Tap feature, users can get information without leaving the app they are using by holding the Home button.
