Bottom-three club Carpi FC (4-13-7, 19 points) is scheduled to take on one of the top contenders of the 2015-2016 Serie A season, AS Roma (12-4-8, 44 points), at their home field of Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena, Italy on Friday.

In their previous game, Carpi was defeated by league-leading SSC Napoli, 1-0, at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday, as per SB Nation. I Biancorossi had lost two straight games and had been winless in their last four outings.

Fabrizio Castori's side was playing well against the league leaders the whole first half and much of the second half until they were toppled by a late penalty kick from Napoli's Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín at the 69th minute, which proved to be the winning goal of the match.

Carpi midfielder Raffaele Bianco was sent off at the 56th with a second yellow card, which was a huge loss for the squad on the way to Higuaín's game-winner.

With the loss, they are currently at the 18th spot of the league table, tied on points with Frosinone, but ahead in goal differential with a -18 as compared with the latter's -26.

Meanwhile, Roma edged struggling squad UC Sampdoria, 2-1, at the Stadio Olimpico also on Sunday, as reported by ESPN.

Midfielder Alessandro Florenzi netted a goal right at the halftime mark to open scoring in the match. It was followed by newly-signed Diego Perotti five minutes into the second half to give the Wolves a 2-0 cushion.

However, an own goal by Miralem Pjanic at the seven minutes later put Sampdoria on the board. I Blucerchiati tried to fight back for the equalizer but La Maggica's defense held on for the one point victory.

It was I Giallorossi's third straight win as they climb to the fifth spot of the league table, only a point behind fourth-running Inter Milan.

The predicted result is a 3-0 rout for Roma as they extend their winning streak to four games. Luciano Spalletti's boys are firing on all cylinders right now and Carpi just does not have the talent to keep up with the big boys at this moment.

Carpi starting lineup (3-5-2 formation): Belec; Letizia, Romagnoli, Poli; Pasciuti, Crimi, Bianco, Martinho, Sabelli; Mancosu, Lasagna
