General Motors has launched Cadillac CT6 sedan on the Chinese car market ahead of it going on sale in the United States, underscoring the significance of China for GM’s flagship Cadillac brand.

According to China Car News, the Cadillac brand has a price tag from 439,900 to 818,800 yuan ($66,860-1$24,460). The price makes the CT6 as competitor of the high-end variants of China-made Audi A6L, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class L, and BMW 5-Series L.

The Cadillac CT6 is manufactured in China by the long-running Shanghai-GM joint venture. The new CT6 stands on the new GM Omega flagship that will also highlight a prospective big-barge Buick, which will be made in China exclusively for the Chinese market.

Currently, there are two variants of the Cadillac CT6: the CT6 40T and the CT6 28T. The 40T is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0 V6 output of 405hp and 543nm. The car has an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

On the other hand, the 28T is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 four with an output of 275hp and 400nm. The car is also an eight-speed automatic transmission, but sends power to the rear wheels only.

According to the publication, the CT6 has a size of 5179 by 1879 by 1500 and a wheelbase of 3109. For this reason, it is positioned exactly between the Audi A6L and Audi A8L, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class l and S-L, and the BMW 5Li and 7Li.

The car has a classy interior with many beige leather and rose-colored wood. Its steering wheel has a wood inlay and a large Cadillac logo. The car is also equipped with a 34-speaker Bose Panary sound system, with the mean speaker situated on top of the dash above the middle console.

Reportedly, a hybrid version based on the 2.0 turbo will be included to the flagship some time this year.
