Nintendo might be forced to delay the supposed 2016 release date schedule of the Nintendo NX in order to avoid clashing with the wave of virtual reality or VR gears that will come out in the latter part of the year. And when rescheduled for an early 2017 rollout, the gaming device will reportedly debut with the remakes of Final Fantasy VII and XV.

Expert Reviews reported this week that a pushback is likely an option for Nintendo as the Japanese game maker would want its new product to dominate the spotlight, which points to Q1 2017 as the more ideal launch date. Apparently, the move is in reaction to a recent report by research firm DFC that a 2016 holiday quarter rollout could prove too crowded for the NX.

DFC has indicated that the period will see the introduction of the PlayStation VR, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. The research firm cautioned that any of the three VR headsets could the thunder off the Nintendo NX and impact negatively on the gaming machine's prospect.

"DFC believes that Nintendo launching a new system in 2016 would be a mistake and under any scenario the Nintendo NX will not have an impact on the market until late 2017," Expert Reviews quoted the report as saying.

Nintendo will also need to take note of the likely PlayStation 4 resurgence in relation to the PS VR release in late 2016, the report said, adding that sales of the PS4 console, which has been outselling the Nintendo Wii U, could reach new highs due to the companion VR headset.

Nintendo, however, appears pretty confident of its upcoming machine, which the company has so far described as a fresh concept that packs more power and excitement compared to the competition. The Japanese gaming giant has also stressed that the Nintendo NX is not the sequel or replacement to both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS handheld.

Yet Nintendo remains silent on the rumors that the NX is designed as a hybrid device that will fuse the functions of console and handheld.

Meanwhile, Ubergizmo has reported that the rumored remakes of the Final Fantasy VII and XV could be also be released for the Nintendo NX, belying an earlier suggestion that returning games will be exclusive to the PS4. Ubergizmo pointed to YouTuber SuperMetalDave64 as source of its information.

In the cited clip (included below), it was echoed as well that the Nintendo NX on release date will boast of processing power that will overpower both the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One.
