"Well I sure hope so! I know we have a very large crew and cast of people who really want to be doing what we love on this show next year, so keep your fingers crossed," she replied to one fan on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Plec also hinted on the possibility of "The Originals" having a higher chance at renewal after season 3.

"'The Originals' are here to stay as long as you'll have us. Also, if and when 'TVD' ends, it would be fun to see some of our favorites from Mystic Falls find their way to NOLA," Plec said.

In other news, the exec also talked about the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" crossover.

According to Plec, Friday night's episode will be focused on Stefan (Paul Wesley) heading to New Orleans, and Caroline (Candice Accola-King) hitting up magic-free zone St. James in the flash-forward scene.

"You can expect some great scenes reminiscent of season 3 Klaus and Stefan moments. A surprising generosity from one Klaus Mikaelson. An awkward moment where Stefan realizes he's not sure if Klaus knows he and Caroline are a couple, and a really beautiful phone call between Klaus and Caroline," Plec said.

Plec also hinted on what fans can expect when Stefan crosses over to "The Originals."

According to her, Stefan will be sucked into Klaus' sire line, and the former will witness how the latter's life will be put at risk with the return of the White Oak."

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 and "The Originals" season 3 airs Fridays at 8 and 9 p.m. ET respectively
