"Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin is set for another big twist in his "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, but fans will not see it on the TV show "Game of Thrones."

Speaking to IGN, the author said that he has decided to continue with the mysterious narrative arc in the next novel "The Winds of Winter." Martin dished on the twist early 2015, although he was uncertain whether he would pull the trigger or not.

In an interview with the publication, Martin said, "I have decided to do that, yes. Will you know it? I don't know. It's fairly obvious because it is something that involves a couple of characters, one of whom is dead on the show, but not dead in the books."

The author added that the show would not do it because they have killed a character that he has not killed. However, that will not have a big impact considering that there are 15 character already dead on the show, but they are alive on the books. According to Entertainment Weekly, Martin said that he created a twist on a long-time character that he never initially considered.

"This is going to drive your readers crazy, but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters," he teased.

Martin pointed out that unexpected things should emerge from circumstances, or otherwise the twist will be meaningless. According to him, the twist is something organic and natural, and he could see how it would take place. There are three characters involved, although he had never thought of such a thing before.

With the show already made decisions that will prelude it, the twist is nothing compared what the characters can do in the show. A difference between Martin's novels and the HBO hit series is not surprising. There are many occasions when "Game of Thrones" does plot twists that are not in the novels, and the show moves into almost entirely new territory this season as the program's storyline extends beyond the scope of the five novels published so far.
