More invented-in-China mobile Internet devices took the centerstage at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona, Spain, China Daily reported.
One of the introduced Chinese innovative products was QLove Phone, a smart landline telephone invented by Beijing Shu Zi Jia Yuan Technology Ltd., which made its debut during the event.
The smartphone, built as a standalone mirror, also received the iF Product Design Award 2016, known as the "Design Oscar." By using a SIM card or logging on to the Internet via WiFi, the device becomes an open online terminal and can be used for normal voice calling and Skype-like video chat.
According to a report by the China Internet Network Information Center, China had 688 million Internet users, or 50.3 percent of its 1.37 billion population, as of December last year.
"Nearly half the entire population has not been connected with the Internet," Tang Bo, founder and CEO of the company, said.
Tang said that with only two clicks on the display, QLove Phone will allow users, especially seniors and children, to get access and enjoy the Internet more easily.
According to the report, QLove Phone features a 160-degree wide-angle front facing camera and a maximum 5-meter long-range audio pickup system. It has a charging base that contains a built-in loudspeaker and the device's audio coverage can fill a 30-square-meter room.
The report said that the device can store eight frequent contacts and provide eight native applications that include radio, video player, time and date.
The company said they will start shipping the product in the coming three months, adding that pricing has not yet been announced.
Wu Wenliang, co-founder and senior vice president of the company's smart device product line, said that the R&D team has studied 30 years' worth of user preferences and habits on landline and mobile phone usage, to summarize high frequency functions used and contact volume.
Another innovative-driven product showcased at the MWC was glass-free 3D solutions created by Shenzhen-based SuperD Co. Ltd., which provides tablet-based, glass-free 3D solutions on multiple operating systems and a standalone glass-free 3D display accessory concept device.
"China has been viewed as the 'world's factory' for long enough; now the new generation of Chinese high-tech companies, such as SuperD, is leading the trend of 'Invented in China,'" Michael Hsu, president of SuperD, said.
"In the long run, we feel that our tracking, rendering and glass-free 3D display technologies are critical to the future development of virtual reality (VR) and artificial reality (AR) and will bring unprecedented changes and brand-new possibilities to peoples' lives," Hsu added.
Hsu told China Daily that two new glass-free 3D mobile smartphones will be launched in China in the first quarter.
SuperD, which has devoted 10 years to R&D, has developed tablet-based glass-free 3D mobile solutions that can be run on multiple operating systems.
"Our products deliver mind-blowing 3D visual effects and bring forth the perfect experience by providing an improved viewing field of 40 degrees in all directions," Hsu said.
The glass-free 3D display accessory concept is a brand-new wireless entertainment product in an innovative foldable, portable design that can be connected with mobile devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Hsu said.
The device can be controlled by mobile phones and can display 3D video, run 3D games or operate 3D apps. It is equipped with SuperD's eye-tracking and 3D dynamic image adjusting technologies, which creates realistic 3D visual effects through reflected images on a transflective screen, the report said.
