Progress update of Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out for Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, 6 Edge+, Alpha, Tab S2

According to a recently leaked Android 6.0 marshmallow roadmap, Samsung's 2015 four flagship devices namely Samsung Galaxy note 5, Galaxy S6, s6 Edge and 6 Edge+ will receive system updates in March.

The devices are apparently part of Samsung's first phase of android 6.0 upgrades which also feature updates for other devices like Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge in April, Galaxy s5 and Galaxy Tab S2 in May and for the Galaxy Alpha in June. After these updates, other devices including the Galaxy A7 will get upgraded during the second phase, Android Authority reported.

Even though the timeline is still officially unconfirmed by Samsung, critics feel it is plausible. It has been a norm for Android updates to hit older devices when latest flagships hit the market. Nevertheless, the Marshmallow update for the Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ will likely take more time than expected.

According to sources, the roll out may start with internationally unlocked devices then move on to carrier models in Asia and Europe, before eventually rolling out for other unlocked devices in the United States. The U.S. carriers will then begin sending out their software leaving a speculation that it may take months for the upgrade to reach U.S. devices.

Since the unveiling of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in October 2015, major tech manufacturers like Samsung have not begun rolling out the operating system to their flagship devices. Only the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge come with the OS preinstalled.
