Samsung Galaxy S6, along with the Galaxy S6 Edge, are soon going to be updated with the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. The update is also reported to roll out to Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S2 in April.

According to this announcement, Samsung will be rolling out the update in three phases for their Galaxy line. The first devices which will be receiving the update are the S6 series, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, along with the Galaxy S5.

According to Sam Mobile, this guide seems to be pretty authentic. It was reported last week that the latest Samsung devices will be the first ones to receive the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The operating system update will be released for all the first phase devices in March, followed by Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 in April. Samsung Galaxy Alpha will get the update in June.

On the other hand, the users of the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, with the network carriers Vodafone in Europe have already started to receive the Android Marshmallow update in February. However, Samsung did not release the update for all the models of these devices. It released the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update for only the Galaxy S6 devices, which are manufactured with the model number SM-G920F. It also released the latest update for the Galaxy S6 Edge devices, which are manufactured with the model number SM-G925F.

The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update will bring an enhanced OS and new features. Features like Google Now on Tap, improved app permissions control, Doze battery manager, a new Samsung browser which will allow ad-blocking, and an improved version of the TouchWiz UI will be seen post this upgrade. A handful of new emojis will be added to the user interface of the devices, as well.
