"New Girl" season 5 didn't see Zooey Deschanel's Jess in all of its episode.

Last year, the actress went on a maternity leave to give birth to her first child.

As such, the creators of the show decided to film that last episodes of the show earlier than first few episodes.

Meanwhile, following Deschanel's temporary departure from the hit FOX series, they invited actress Megan Fox to take her place.

At first, the fans were hesitant about Fox joining the show because they thought it will be difficult for her to make audiences laugh.

However, Fox proved otherwise when she started not only taking Jess' place, but also winning the hearts of the audiences.

According to Refinery 29, it seems much better for Deschanel to no longer be the focus of the show so that Fox's Reagan could be included in more episodes.

As of late, Reagan's story has already been written off, but TV Line reported that there's still hope for fans to see her in the finale episode.

According to the publication, Reagan will be invited to Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece's (Hannah Simone) wedding.

If she will decide to go, Reagan could bring another exciting storyline for fans.

Obviously, Jess will also be present at the wedding, and a possible love triangle between her, Reagan and Nick (Jake Johnson) may be part of the finale episode.

Meanwhile, according to Refinery 29, it seems better if Jess will no longer be the main focus of the show. After all, her temporary departure brought about a different dynamic for the other characters.

"When the cast doesn't have to play by the rules of the leading lady, they're free to be, well, more themselves," they noted.

In other news, if Jess will no longer be the focus of the show, especially given the fact that she's no longer the new girl, more storylines for Cece and the other characters may also exist.

"New Girl definitely isn't the same without Jess, but I'm happy to have her back as part of the group again."

"New Girl" season 5 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
