The cast and crew of "Longmire" Season 5 will reportedly start filming on March 23. Episode 1 is expected to pick up where the season 4 finale ended, with Walt's (Robert Taylor) attacker ruining his moment with Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan (Ally Walker).
According to Carter Matt, the trailer for "Longmire" Season 5 will likely be released by summer. As for its premiere, the outlet held that it is likely to come out by September, just as originally planned. The filming for the series is also expected to take place in New Mexico, much like in the earlier seasons.
Meanwhile, in an earlier poll by the publication, fans of "Longmire" believed that the perpetrator was actually "whoever burned the van." They speculated that Donna Sue was actually the real target in this scenario. They held that s/he was going after both her and Walt in some way.
Interestingly, viewers also thought that it could be someone who is working closely with Dr. Monaghan. They held that she could be in cohort, distracting Walt so that the attacker could make his/her move.
In other news, multiple reports suggest that "Longmire" Season 5 will finally focus on Walt and Vic's relationship. While season 4 mostly featured the romance between Walt and Dr. Monaghan, avid fans know that it is Vic and Walt who will end up together in the end.
According to Christian Examiner, some viewers expressed concern of the age gap between Walt and Vic. They held that he was just too old for her, while she was just too immature for him. Although some agreed that they were perfect together, they held that it was just too early in the series for a relationship.
"I don't think Vic & Walt should be a couple, at least not just yet. Explore other options for each of them first," a netizen suggested.
While it is quite common for TV adaptations to change a bit of a book's plot or pairing to make the series even more interesting, it will be quite a stretch to think that Walt will eventually end up with someone else. For one, avid fans of the Craig Johnson series will definitely hold a petition arguing that it is always better to stay fateful to the novel.
