Google's new policy to boost Play Store games turn out to be just an ad format, but not without its value, because these ads will be unique, in a sense that they would allow mobile internet surfers to play game demos before installing them, The Verge reported.

Being able to test drive games is sure to save a lot of time for users, because they will be able to learn if the game is to their liking or not without having to actually install the game on their smartphones. Google search users will simply type the name of the game or other keywords, and if a related game shows up on the result page, they will simply tap on it to try the demo version.

In other news, the Play Store is also introducing an "indie corner," which would enlist some of the best game from the indie developers. The games will be ranked according to their quality among other criteria. "Number one, it has to be a good game," The Verge reported Ben Frenkel, product manager of play games as saying.

"We want them all to be case studies for what you can do on the platform," Frenkel added. The game titles which would use various Play Store features would be given preference. Google trying its best to promote Play Games, both recent developments are a proof.

Google Play hasn't revealed any solid numbers, but the company did reveal that the number of games with million plus installs grew by 50 percent, TechCrunch reported.

Google is facilitating game developers with new promotion tactics that will also bring back some value to its Play Store. All the announcements came out during the company's "developer day" and the new "search trial run ads" are expected to show up in search results in the next few weeks.
