Apple has two sizes of MacBook Pro models available now - a 13-inch variant that was last updated in March 2015 and a 15-inch model, last updated in May 2015. As a result, fans should expect that the Cupertino-based tech giant would update these models in the near future, possibly as suggested on March 21.

There are high chances that a new MacBook Pro will be available during the March 21 event since Apple often releases new laptops at this time of the year, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro variant was last updated a year ago. On the other hand, there may be a separate event shortly after March 21 for Apple to unveil MacBook, given that the looming event has been elusive in mentioning the release of MacBooks, according to Mac World.

Fans might have to wait until the upcoming WWDC, which is scheduled for June. However, it would be great to have new Macs on March 21.

It is official that iPhone SE and iPad Air 3 will be unveiled on the 21 March, in addition to the Apple Watch. Furthermore, new Apple Watch bands are likelihood, but fans will have to follow the announcement on the night of the event to be certain.

With regard to specs and features, the new MacBook Pro models will likely feature Skylake processors, which is the latest sixth generation chipset from Intel. Currently, none of the company's MacBooks runs on Skylake, and therefore, it is highly possible that Apple plans to address the issue soon. Intel's Skylake processors will bring notable performance gains to the new MacBook Pro, as well, making it a faster machine.

Apple's rivals like Dell, HP, and Microsoft have already embraced Skylake processors, leaving the company no other option but to trail behind. Skylake could improve battery life, working with E1 Captain to enhance efficiency. According to a different report by the same publication, the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro currently offers 10 hours of battery life, while the 15-inch variant offers 8 hours.

In addition, the 15-inch models of MacBook Pro now run on quad-core i7 processors, comparing favorably with the 27-inch iMacs. There are expectations that the 2016 model will maintain the quad-core processors, although when the Man mini was updated in October 2014, it lost its quad-core processor options, which could be the same with the upcoming MacBook Pro.

As previously reported, the 2016 MacBook Pro models will sport a touch screen, besides being detachable from the screen much like the Surface Book.
