Apple iPhone 5se (iPhone 6C/iPhone mini)

The device will have a 326 ppi Retina display, 1 GB of RAM and an A9 processor. Apple is expected to launch it on March 21 in a special event, which will also see the release of second-Gen Apple Watch and the iPad Air 3.

Apple IPhone 7

Expected to be Apple's flagship phone for this year, the device is rumored to have an A10 processor and an embedded M10 motion co-processor backed up by 2GB of RAM. iPhone 7 may come with unbeatable processing speeds, considering the fact that phones with the A9 chip are already legendary in fast processing. The launch is still months away and the exact date is unclear.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus

Hearsays suggest that iPhone 7 Plus will become the best smartphone ever released. It will highlight an array of spec improvements that includes an A10 processing chip, an M10 motion co-processor and 2 GB of RAM. It is also said that the screen size will increase to 5.7 inches. More gossip floats around this device and most of the features are still uncertain.

Google Nexus 6 2016

Google Nexus 6 will once again get manufactured by Huawei, according to tip-offs by various sources. It will come with a Snapdragon 820 chip with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. It is also important to note that Nexus 6 will be the launch device for Android N operating system, and will most likely see an October release.

HTC One M10

After HTC unveiled the HTC One A9 in October 2015, it seems that it is now ready to launch the HTC One M10 to step up its game. The phone is expected to see an April unveiling. Compared to its competitors, HTC currently lags behind in its displays, which hints that the M10 may come with a better display.

LG L5

LG was announced back in Feb. 21 and it represents the company's first modular-design smartphone, which can be transformed into a Hi-Fi player or a digital camera. The key specs include a Qualcomm snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The G5 costs $529 and the first sales will start on April 8.

LG G Flex 3

The LG G Flex 3 will be the successor of the LG G Flex 2. It is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Leaks also point out that there will be a fingerprint scanner and 20/8MP cameras.

Microsoft Surface Phone

Rumors about the Microsoft surface phone have been few, pointing to the possibility of a mythical phone. However, according to Wired, Microsoft Corporate VP is working on a prototype that is rumored to be the Microsoft surface Phone. If it truly exists, the phone will arrive this year with a 5.5-inch Quad-HD display, 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB variants, a 64-bit processor, and 21/8MP cameras.

Sony Xperia X and XA

Sony has decided to replace the Xperia Z6 family with a new "X" line up. The first devices in the new series expected to launch this year are the Xperia X and Xperia XA. Both phones will have 5-inch screen, 23MP camera, support for expandable storage and smart battery management.

Xiaomi Mi 5

Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 5 at the MWC as its flagship phone of the year. The device features specs such 5.15-inch Full-HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with Adreno graphics, Quick Charge 3.0, 4GB of RAM, 16MP camera and a 3000 mAh battery.

These may be the hot topics in the smartphone world currently, but they are not the only ones in line for launch. According to PC Advisor, more smartphones awaiting release this year include Nextbit Robin, OnePlus 2 Mini, OnePlus 3, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
