"Stronghold Kingdoms" may be another "Clash of Clans" style tower defense title, although the free-to-play MMO technique game is different. Released by Firefly Studios, the game packs an impressive product pedigree.

According to iDigital Times, "Stronghold" series was conducting resource management and tower defense before it was unleashed. As a result, it is surprising that the studio that, in many ways, initiated this style and genre did not benefit from the game until the recent past.

Speaking to the same publication, Marketing Manager at Firefly Nick Tannahill said, "About 8 years ago we were making an action RPG and the funding fell through, and the company reduced about 35 to 5 employees. Because we had that in our back pockets we launched it."

Tannahill said that the company considered the remuneration page and reached an agreement that has allowed it to get back from five employees to 35, a move that has worked effectively.

The game takes the time-tested gameplay and aesthetics of the renowned franchise and places them in a free-to-play MMO environment. "Stronghold Kingdoms" is a mobile release that satisfies hardcore strategy gamers with the impression that current offerings are too shallow or watered-down.

Tannahill unveiled that the difference between "Stronghold Kingdoms" and other games like "Clash of Clans" is when a player goes to the overworld, "Clash of Clans," or any other game like it displays a single static image with a few dots on it. It is not as interactive as what "Stronghold Kingdoms" appears to be.

Like most free-to-play games, "Stronghold Kingdoms" has featured microtransactions, safe for a simple system based on cards and elements that offer temporary bonuses. The marketing manager stressed that gamers should not pour their cash into the game to succeed, but they should spare some sufficient time.

Tannahill said, "We've got leaderboards for every single game world and a lot of the people there have spent absolutely nothing on the game, but they have invested X hundred hours."

Describing the game, the marketing manager said that it is as "roguelike" because of the 24/7 world to play in. A castle can be attacked by any other gamers at any moment, giving reason why Mac and PC players are happy for the mobile version.

"Stronghold Kingdoms" is scheduled for a release on Android and iOS sometime this summer. The game is now available on Steam for Mac, PC, and Linux. Watch the clip below for more information.
