"Spider-Man" has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his role in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" with Tom Holland locked on the role. It has been clear from the get-go that MCU's "Spider-Man" solo film is bound to happen with Marvel already setting the plan in motion to have it by 2017.

Marvel big boss Kevin Feige dished a few details about the "Spider-Man" reboot. He hinted that several characters from "Civil War" may appear in the 2017 "Spider-Man" film.

"He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth," Feige told EW.

Furthermore, Joe Russo also jumped at the suggestion and said jokingly that the "Great Lakes Avengers" may actually join Spidey in the film. For the uninitiated, the "Great Lakes Avengers" consists of Big Bertha, Dinah Soar, Mister Immortal, Doorman and Flatman.

Marvel confirmed that the solo "Spider-Man" film will depart from the previous "Spider-Man" adaptations by not tackling the story of how "Peter Parker" became "Spider-Man." Since the film will take place after Spidey's active role in "Civil War," Marvel's version of the character will be set at a time where he already has his powers. Because of this, Tom Holland's Spidey might have interlocking storyline with the other heroes on the same timeline especially with the MCU characters on Netflix such as "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage" who are also located in New York.

Though essentially an MCU film, the 2017 "Spider-Man" feature will be produced and released by Sony but the film will be overseen by Marvel with Jon Watts tapped to direct the film. Actors confirmed to join the ensemble are Marisa Tomei and Zendaya Coleman, Variety reported.
