The author George R. R. Martin is reported to be suffering from writer's block and hence the book is delayed. It may not be released till later this year. It may seem a bit awkward that the book will be released after the show. However, the author seems absolutely unperturbed by this fact.

He was expected to finish the book before March 2016, and now its delayed till time unknown. He blamed multiple revisions and other distractions for the super delay of the book.

In addition, Martin does not want to produce a hurried off version of "Winds of Winter," and is willing to give as much time as it requires. However, the author did display a deep regret about lagging behind with the timelines.

Meanwhile, it is speculated that the plots and twists will be different in the story of the book and the TV show. Therefore, it is unclear whether Lannister and Mother of Dragons will meet the same fate in the book or not.

While the TV show will portray things like Jon Snow's birth and his strongly speculated resurrection; the reality of Bran Stark and his ability to fly, the result of Cercei's trial; and Daenerys' situation with her dragons and the Khal's army, the book will have a different plot, according to iDigital Times.

The directors of the show D.B.Weiss and David Benioff also confirmed that for the first time ever, they are taking a totally different route than the manuscript of the book, according to another report by iDigital TimesIn light of the present delay, the last book of the series "A Dream of Spring" is unlikely to hit the shelves before 2019.
