Natalie Portman will not be reprising her role in "Thor: Ragnarok," which leaves Thor without a love interest in the film. However, it was recently revealed that Tessa Thompson has been cast to fill in Portman's shoes.

Thompson has reportedly been cast in "Thor: Ragnarok" as Thor's love interest. Details to her character remain scarce as of the moment; however, according to Deadline, her character is also described as some kind of a superhero.

The American actress has apparently signed on for multiple film deals with Marvel Studios. Her character will reportedly appear in other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sadly, Portman will not be reprising her role as Dr. Jane Foster, according to the Hollywood Reporter. With Portman out, Thompson may supposedly also take over as the new female lead in the film.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will reportedly start filming at the end of July. Prior to that Thompson will be shooting scenes with Portman, ironically, in "Annihilation." The film, which is the sequel to "Ex-Machina," will also start shooting in spring.

The musician already has several movie titles on her resume. She has appeared in several films including "Selma," "Dear White People" and recently in "Creed" opposite Michael B. Jordan.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will be her first venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 32-year-old actress will join returning casts Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Rufallo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif). Cate Blanchett has also been cast in the film for an undisclosed role.

It only seems appropriate that Jane will not be in "Thor: Ragnarok." She was not in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and Thor clearly revealed in the film that he and Jane are no longer together. The film never explored their relationship, although it was rumored that Jane ended up with Richard.

However, "Thor: Ragnarok" would have to address what happened to their relationship after "Thor: The Dark World." The film ended with Thor abandoning his duties in Asgard to go after the love of his life on Earth. Loki, masquerading as Odin, took over the throne. If "Thor: Ragnarok" follows after the events in its preceding film, then perhaps fans would learn more about what happened to Jane in the sequel.
