It looks like a new player will give the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One a run for their money as Nintendo NX is said to be more powerful than Sony's console.

NeoGAF user 10k reportedly leaked the Nintendo NX specs details and the components mentioned are indeed more powerful than the PS4, Frag Hero reported.

"From the CPU, to GPU, to RAM, sources do not know the clock speeds, or memory type or amount of memory. But if the CPU is 15-30% stronger than PS4 as alluded to by LCGeek, than the GPU would need to match that bump in order to not bottleneck (Nintendo hates their bottlenecks)," he wrote in the forum.

This would be a very interesting move for the company after backing off the console wars a few years ago. Since then, Nintendo took a different route as they kept working on gadgets with unique features such as Nintendo Wii among others. However, the reception was not as phenomenal as the two aforementioned consoles.

The user added that Nintendo will bring one of their most popular game franchises, "Smash Bros. 4" to the NX. The biggest question facing the tech company is their motive behind making a console of such power, when their games are not as graphic intensive, Frag Hero remarked.

But it looks like Sony has a countermeasure should Nintendo's plans come to fruition. For the past few months, reports of Sony working on a much-improved PS4 are surfacing online. The console, once out, is set to be labeled PS4K or PlayStation 4.5.

Moreover, the said device is set to be much smaller compared to its predecessor, Value Walk reported. The current PS4 is made up of standard AMD components but there are already chips and microprocessors that can outdo these specs.

The PS4 is using the 28 nm microprocessor but much more powerful and smaller processors are now out in the market, namely 14 nm and 16nm processors. Should Sony integrate these chips to the PS4, there is a huge possibility that it can now run 4K quality games. Furthermore, due to these processors' size, it is possible that the PS4K will be slimmer as well. Here are some insights and projections on the PS4K courtesy of Game Cross.
