Professor Xavier has an intense battle with En Sabah Nur in "X-Men: Apocalypse," according to actor James McAvoy. The first trailer released for the movie already gave fans a glimpse at this fight scene.

McAvoy said Apocalypse does something very "brutal" to Professor Charles Xavier during their fight. He said the professor also turned very violent. Xavier got to beat the villain mutant around, according to Cinema Blend

Likewise, "X-Men: Apocalypse" director Bryan Singer called their battle as a mutant-to-mutant combat. He described Xavier as enraged and desperate to defeat En Sabah Nur, although their battle does not end well. Singer said Apocalypse is a "hard man to break" since he thinks of himself as God.

"The end of the movie becomes an all-out battle with a force that's very formidable," Entertainment Online quoted Singer as saying.

Fans got their first glimpse at this intense face-off in the "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer. At the 1:20 time stamp in the video below, viewers saw Xavier punched Apocalypse. However, the professor's strength was apparently no match for the villain's powers. En Sabah Nur managed to block his fist, before his eyes turned white and he turned into a giant mutant.

In the comics, turning into a gigantic mutant is one of Apocalypse's unique abilities. Singer said in his previous interview that he wanted to stick to this characteristic in the film. However, he did not go overboard when he addressed Apocalypse's size during his battle with Xavier. Instead of the professor getting squashed by the villain's fist, Singer opted for "something a little interesting."

Somehow, the trailer revealed what Singer meant by "something interesting." That scene, when the giant Apocalypse picked up Xavier and tossed him around like a rag doll, is probably what Singer used to address the villain's size.

There is also one thing noticeable from the pair's battle scene, and that is Xavier up on his feet instead of being confined to his wheelchair. This could supposedly only mean that their battle happens on the astral plane. It is unclear when their fight takes place in "X-Men: Apocalypse," but it could either occur when Xavier is using the Cerebro or when he is dreaming.
