Chinese company LeEco is making headlines by unveiling its new smart TV, first electric car and three smartphones. While its electric car LeSEE can hopefully become totally autonomous, the three phones, Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 came with a radical change. In lieu of the headphone jack, the three phones use USB Type-C and are run by Android 6 with EUI 5.8.

The first two phones are mid-tier handsets based on deca-core processor of MediaTek, while the decidedly futuristic Le Max 2 comes with a Snapdragon 820, The Verge has learned. The Le Max 2 phablet's specs look very similar to the specs of the current flagships. It has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 3100mAh battery, quick charge 3.0 support, 64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM, 21MP camera with optical image stabilization and 8MP front-facing camera.

Its 5.7-inch display is a 1440p LCD, which can rival Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 and S7 series as well as LG's G5, delivering good viewing angles and high brightness, according to Anandtech. Connectivity options are enabled via Snapdragon 820 like the X12 LTE modem integrated by Qualcomm and the dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support.

The most notable aspect of the Le Max 2 is its I/O connectivity. The increasingly common USB Type-C port is expected. Being the only port though is unexpected because there is no 3.5mm audio jack present. Its maker pipes out an audio over the USB port, including a USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter for compatibility with standard headsets. LeEco offers two configurations of Le Max 2 - the 32GB, 4GB RAM priced at $325; and the 64GB and 6GB RAM which will sell for $385.

The Le 2 series duo, Le 2 and Le 2 Pro, share the same basic display and chassis. They both sport a 5.5 1080p LCD screen and their design and features are similar to Le Max 2 except for the small main camera on the Le 2 that is 16MP.

Le 2 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Helio X25 chipset, that offers three ARM Cortex CPUs clusters, two quad-core clusters at various power or performance levels, plus a dual-core A72 cluster. The basic Le 2 smartphone is powered by Helio X20 chip, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

Both the Le 2 phones have a 3000mAh battery, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and the sole USB Type-C port for audio and data. Le 2 and Le 2 Pro are priced $170 and $230.
