The Motorola Company is preparing to release two new handsets in May under the Moto G series.
Photos of the upcoming smartphones from Motorola are circulating online under the names Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, according to Ars Technica. In the leaked stills, it is evident that the manufacturer has decided to get rid of the speakers at the top and bottom panel of the smartphone and replaced it with a square button at the bottom. The button is reportedly meant for the fingerprint scanner.
Furthermore, the back part of the upcoming devices has a space for a camera with LED flash. The leaked pictures as well reveal another button, which may serve for something that the company is planning to introduce together with the release of the new Moto G series.
The flagship smartphones will likely follow the latest technological trend in the industry, whereby, one of the devices is a phone and the other is a phablet variant. Rumors about the specs of the upcoming devices indicate that they will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, similar to what most smartphone rivals are going for.
The new Moto G handsets may ship with 3GB of RAM and at least run on Android Marshmallow out of the box, Know Your Mobile reported. The manufacturer may as well introduce a new camera with the color spectrum sensor like the one introduced by LG on its latest smartphones. With regard to pricing, it is rumored that the new handsets will sell between $270 and $320.
However, the naming convention for the upcoming Moto G devices may be superfluous and confusing with LG's flagship smartphone LG G4, which was introduced last year. It is possible that the naming of Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus is in reference to the fourth generation of the Moto G series.
