If latest rumors are to be believed, Sony is currently working on a new mid-range smartphone model dubbed as Xperia C6.

The leaked images of the purported handset published in a number of online media outlets show that the device will come with a large 6-inch screen rendering high-definition display and surrounded by very thin bezels that aim to offer cluster-free viewing. It is unlikely that Sony will bump the screen to 2K capability owing to cost-cutting measures; the device is still expected to be supported by the company's most recent Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine, Christian Daily reported.

The front-facing camera of the purported Xperia C6 is likely to sport a LED flash, something similar to Apple's iPhone 6s. According to reports, this feature ensures that the display compensates for the absence of a dedicated flash.

It is being rumored that the upcoming Xperia C6 will possibly replace the Xperia C5 Ultra. It is expected to incorporate specific upgrades, especially the front-facing lens that is expected to possess 13-megapixel capacity. Even the lens of the front-facing camera is likely to boast sensor of f/1.8 compared to the previous f/2.2, helping to take better images at night and even at low light condition.

Aside from the rumored camera specs, rumors regarding other specifications of the device include dual SIM support and a MediaTek processor, which is currently said to be in the testing phase. On the other hand, the chipset of Xperia C6 is predicted to be Helio P10 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and an in-built 16GB read-only memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card slot. However, as Sony has not confirmed any of these specs, all these remain mere speculations, Nashville Chatters reported.

Sony announced several models at the recent Mobile World Congress. However, the Japanese tech firm did make any mention about the Xperia C6 then, as rumors suggest that despite declining sales and revenues, the company is keen on creating high-end models.

Currently, the Xperia Z5 is among the high-end models of the company, but it failed to compete well with iPhone in spite of its outstanding design, quality and striking specs. Hence, it is presumed that the company will not release a series of midrange phones with a view to boost the sales.

Rumors about Sony offering their Xperia C line began only in February 2016, when it was speculated that the company would be introducing the phone at their event at the annual Mobile World Congress. However, this did not occur as the company announced an entirely new Xperia X series, including Xperia XA, X Performance and Xperia X.
