New details for "Wolverine 3" will feature the possible plot setting and two characters from the X-Men franchise are added to the film.
It seems that the plot setting for the third "Wolverine" spin-off film has been revealed as producer Simon Kinsberg stated in an interview that "Wolverine 3" will take place in the future. Kinsberg has explained the new time in the "X-Men" film franchise since "X-Men: First Class) is set on the 60's era, while the latest film, "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set on the 80's, Screenrant reported.
"Wolverine 3's" plot is said to be based on the "Old Man Logan comic book storyline as movie audiences and comic book fans might see an older and seasoned Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in the third installment of the spin-off film. An older version of Logan has been featured in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" after he altered time from Sentinel ruled dystopian.
Jackman stated in an interview while promoting "Eddie the Eagle" that the script for "Wolverine 3" is "super close" to being finished and currently has the incomplete copy of it, even joking that his facial hair is growing.
Aside from plot setting, two X-Men characters will likely join "Wolverine 3" as Laura Kinney/X-23 and Victor Creed/Sabretooth) will be joining Logan in his new adventure.
Casting calls from Central Casting are looking for stand-ins and photo doubles for "Juarez", which is a code name for "Wolverine 3" film. The requirement for saide stand-ins and photo doubles must be "Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian looking females over the age of 21," specifically at a height of 4'-4'11" and size 0-4 with dark brown hair, Comic Book reported.
The description has led fans to believed that "Wolverine 3" might feature X-23 on the big screen. Laura Kinney/X-23 is the female genetic clone of Logan, who made her debut in "X-Men: Evolution" and has eventually made it into the comics. She has been a member of the X-Men and Avengers via Avengers Academy and is currently taking on the "Wolverine" alias in the "All-New, All-Different Marvel comics". X-23 has the same abilities as Logan such animal senses, a healing factor and razor bone claws laced with adamantium.
As for Sabretooth, "Spotlight" star Liev Schreiber stated in interview during 88th Academy Awards that he has expressed his interest to return as Victor Creed/Sabretooth for "Wolverine 3". Schreiber in a separate interview also teased that the third "Wolverine" spin-off could be based on the "Old Man Logan" storyline as he explained that the comic book plot called his attention.
Jackman has been adamant about Schreiber returning to "Wolverine 3" even goading him to go the gym to get back in shape.
"Wolverine 3" will be release in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
