Unlike the earlier seasons of "Vikings," season 4 will have a longer run with 20 episodes as opposed to the usual 10. The mid-season finale, for the fourth season, "The Last Ship," aired last Thursday, April 21. According to CarterMatt, it is not at all surprising when History decided to double its episode order for the Travis Fimmel drama. The mid-season finale reportedly drew in a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is actually the second highest rating in all of the episodes of season 4 following the premiere, which drew a 0.8.

More impressively, "Vikings" season 4 episode 10 also tied with NBC's "Game of Silence." The show's ratings last Thursday was also not far behind ABC's "The Catch" and CBS' "Rush Hour." Fans of the show will also be happy to know that the network has already renewed "Vikings" for a fifth season.

Moving on to more "Vikings" season 4 episode 11 spoilers, creator Michael Hirst revealed that the second half of the fourth season will most likely focus on Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and how he will try to get back on his feet following his first major defeat in his fight against Rollo (Clive Standen).

Those who were emotional at the midseason finale should be prepared to shed more tears when "Vikings" season 4 returns. Speaking to TV Line, Hirst said that viewers will be "very happy" on what's to come.

"What happens to him is unbelievable. Prepare to shed a lot of tears, I think," he hinted.

The showrunner also said that viewers will get to see more of Ragnar's four sons. He explained that they all had very different reaction to their father's return.

"Some of them are bitter about it. Some accommodate it. But when Ragnar comes back, they're confronted by a lot of issues."
