It seems like fans will still have to wait a little longer, as most recent reports claim that the much-awaited "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be delayed. The anime producer is reportedly delaying the rollout of the third season due to the lack of content on its original manga.

The anime adaptation of Sui Ishida's popular manga, "Tokyo Ghoul," has gained immense popularity and received heaps of love across the globe. With the show's second season has already come to an end on March 27, 2015, many fans cannot help but wonder on the comeback of the show.

Earlier, it was expected that the new season of the anime TV series would be released this year, but recent rumors suggest that the release of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 may be postponed to 2017. The popular series will return airing once the creators of the series' already have enough source materials that would provide a complete storyline for an entire season, News Everyday reported.

According to the publication, the manga version of "Tokyo Ghoul" is only a few chapters ahead of the anime series and that pushing the anime production would only hamper and lag its manga counterpart. Also, fans were asking the creators to stick with the original source in the new season given how things played out in the previous' season 2, which is an alternate story spun.

Disappointed fans have gone to the ends to demand a "Tokyo Ghoul" reboot rather than a season 3. The petition, now a non-working page, pointed out that "What happened to (the second season) is just heartbreaking," and stressed that there have been excessively numerous pointless scenes that have veered off from its source material.

While nothing has been set in stone yet as far as the release date is concerned, previous reports noted that the upcoming season will explore the rising racial tensions in the United States and the ubiquitous fear of ghoul discrimination, with Touka Kirishima, an ex-waitress at Anteiku and a ghoul with a rabbit mask, at the spotlight.

"This is perhaps the most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plot line that we will attempt to adapt," Anime writer Bob told Anime Maru, while stating that they hope to remain as faithful as could reasonably be to the source material. "Although we cannot guarantee that more gory scenes such as Touka's standardized exam test-taking will not be censored."
