"Dr. Ken" has just wrapped up recently completing its first season with 22 episodes. However, it is still not clear whether the sitcom will have a sequel. It is because the show's network, ABC, has not yet announced nor confirmed a second installment for the sitcom.
It has been reported that "Dr. Ken" did catch the interest of its audience, but its numbers, in terms of ratings, is quite not enough. This may be why ABC is still undecided whether to give a green light for "Dr. Ken" Season 2.
On the other hand, some said that since it is only the first season of the sitcom, there could be a chance that "Dr. Ken," if renewed, may improve its TV ratings, knowing that some great shows also did came short with their freshman season.
Even if "Dr. Ken" was not able to capture the heart of the critics, the comedy series is still one of the fresh contents in television today, plus it uses the retro three-camera filming. In fact, reports claim that various shows are now using the said filming technique.
Dr. Ken, who happens to be the creator and the show's lead actor, Ken Jeong, made his success as an actor in the series and movies like "Knocked Up," "Community" and "Hangover" film series. It is said that the "Dr. Ken" comedy series is based on the life of Ken Jeong, who was a doctor before doing his brilliance as an actor, Premiere Date TV reported.
Meanwhile, it has been speculated that "Dr. Ken" Season 2 may feature several actors from the "Community" franchise. This rumor sparked when some actors from the hit comedy series appeared in "Dr. Ken," which includes Danny Pudi and Jim Rash.
Nevertheless, although the show was received poorly by the critics, and even if it did not acquire a lot of viewers, there may still be a big chance that a "Dr. Ken" Season 2 will air every Fridays. It is just up to the ABC network to decide whether it would give the show another chance to redeem itself.
