Razer, the company behind the world's thinnest gaming laptop, just announced the latest addition to its top-tier Razer Blade line. The Razer Blade 2015 gaming system retains most of the looks of last year's model and keeps the crown of being the thinnest gaming laptop in the market, while getting significant upgrades to its performance.

Without a doubt, the biggest change to the system is the new GeForce GTX 970M GPU. At first glance, the upgrade does not seem like much. It has an edge of just 100 points from the previous system's GTX 870M -but a closer examination by PC World reveals much more benefits.

The GTX 970M chip sports 3 Gigs of RAM and is Maxwell-based, where the 870 is Kepler-based. This basically means the new Razer Blade will get the goodness of dynamic super resolution, multi-frame anti-aliasing, as well as Voxel-based illumination.

The new GPU also operates at a much cooler temperature than previous chips, although Nvidia has not released actual temp specs as it varies depending on the computer design. Razer has been able to take advantage of this lower GPU temperature by putting in a hotter CPU.

Running at a base clock speed of 2.6GHz, the new Intel Core i7 4720Q is rated at 47 watts. These are significant variations from the last Razer Blade's CPU, the Intel i7 4702Q, which was rated at 37 watts and ran at 2.2 GHz.

The new system also comes with a custom designed mouse and keyboard. The anti-ghosting keyboard is backlit, has programmable keys and is equipped with Razer's Synapse technology.

The system comes with a 16Gig DDR3L Memory and can be purchased with 512 / 256 / 128 Gig storage. It is also equipped with a QuadHD screen and comes with Windows 8.1 64bit.
