If the next Samsung smartphone-tablet device aka phablet will come with internal enhancements only and less design tweaks, it will not overshadow the current flagship, Galaxy Note 5. The latter impresses many with its eye-catching design, superb camera, high-end hardware and it makes the use of stylus feel better that tech enthusiasts await what innovation and upgrade its successor will have.
Samsung's next premium flagship phone is still 5 months away, but with a company as popular as Samsung, public eyes are already checking even on its upcoming products. Tech fans are already anxious what fate awaits the next Galaxy Note, whether it will be a simple upgrade or a superstar.
The Galaxy Note 6, if the naming convention pattern is to be followed will have a boost of its RAM, microSD and battery as rumors said. It is rumored to have a 6GB RAM, a microSD card slot via a SIM tray combo and a 4000mAh battery pack. Reports said that Samsung is testing two variants - the plain Note 6 and the Note Edge, which is the more popular design, according to Forbes.
As early as now, the information about the upcoming phablet is limited to hearsays, rumors and leaks. If the leaks are true, the Galaxy Note 5 successor may not be as enamored as the current Note device.
Galaxy Note 6 may retain the superb features of the Galaxy S7, such as the Snapdragon 820, QHD resolution display, 12 MP primary camera and the IP68 water- and dust-proof rating, according to Slash Gear. However, succeeding devices are not just about enhancing tech specs since consumers always balance features, price and whether the device can get the spotlight of its predecessor to justify the purchase.
When it comes to the upcoming Galaxy Note, a 5.8- or 5.9-inch display will appeal the fanatics of big screens but there are those who do not like bulky devices. Meanwhile, a curved screen looks fancy but may not be necessary. As the Note phablet is designed with a stylus so the user can draw, take notes or doodle with it, doing those stuff in a non-flat part of the device would be inconvenient.
Scribbling on the edges might slip the tablet over and cause it to fall to the ground. This year's iteration of the Galaxy Note may not be significant unless Samsung will start from the beginning and adopt an entirely different technology.
Notwithstanding, the Galaxy Note's future is not really that bleak. For instance, enhancing the battery and microSD are already exciting, and an IP68 grade is a welcome offer.
