Earlier this year, it is said that there is a possibility the unveiling of "Pokemon Z" would be happening this year, iDigitalTimes reported. Since the Pokemon franchise is currently celebrating their 20th year, the announcement of a new Pokemon game is highly likely.

Alas, neither The Pokemon Company nor Nintendo has confirmed the development of "Pokemon Z." Instead, the people behind the franchise has since announced the arrival of a new Pokemon games - "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon." The game reportedly would be arriving before the end of the year and would feature new Pokemons.

"As we celebrate 20 years since the launch of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan, the next era of Pokémon games is being announced! Pokémon Sun Pokémon Moon are coming out for systems in the Nintendo 3DS family in holiday 2016," reads a part of the announcement.

While Pokemon fans are excited about the arrival of "Pokemon Sun and Moon," they are left wondering what would become of "Pokemon Z" in the light of the recent announcement. Unfortunately, according to reports, the prospect of a 2016 "Pokemon Z" release is now very bleak.

According to reports, "Pokemon Z" may not arrive in 2016 - if at all. Reports suggest that with the introduction of "Pokemon Sun and Moon," Nintendo may not have any intention to release "Pokemon Z" at all.

Nevertheless, Pokemon enthusiasts, including Youtuber Dookieshed, speculate that the rumored "Pokemon Z" pokemons would be included in "Pokemon Sun and Moon." According to the most recent "Pokemon Sun and Moon" video by Dookieshed, there is a possibility that Zygarde, Volcanion and Mangearna would be featured in the newly announced Pokemon game.
