Disney is producing a sequel to the worldwide hit "Frozen," and with the announcement, some people are coming forward to make the request of changing Elsa's character to something unique. In the original movie version, Elsa did not have a love interest so people started a campaign for Disney to give her a girlfriend instead of a prince, suggesting that the main character be turned into a gay woman.

The hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend trended on Twitter and apparently, many are letting Disney know that they want a different story. Something different from the ‘princess meets the prince' which has always been the ending of most fairy tale movies. If the producers of "Frozen 2" decided to take on the suggestion, Elsa will be the very first Disney leading character to be openly gay.

According to The Inquirer Daily News, it was a 17-year-old Latina named Alexis Isabel Moncada who started the campaign through social media. The lass described herself as bisexual and she created the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend hashtag on April 30. Her tweets was retweeted by many of her 83,000 followers until it became a sensation.

Moreover, the highschool student got many mentions on Twitter and this caught the attention of the media. She was also praised by the LGBT community and her story appeared on various news outlets.

In one of her live video chat interviews, she was asked how she came up with the idea, "There are more than just one kind of person," Moncada told NBC12. "To see the same story over and over about a girl and her prince charming, it is repetitive, and it leaves so many people out and makes so many people feel alone," she added.

Many think that Moncada's campaign is a good one and showed support by sharing their own views on the matter while adding the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend tag. Then again, not everyone agrees with the idea and some even warned Disney that they will boycott the company if the storyline will really transition Elsa to become a lesbian.

In any case, Disney confirmed its plans to produce "Frozen" sequel in March 2015. The production is already in the works as the target date for its premiere is before the year 2018.
