The fifth season of USA Network's legal drama "Suits" saw the fall of the prestigious Pearson Specter Litt. The heartbreaking season finale unleashed the ultimate consequence of Mike's dark secret, and everyone was dealt with a devastating blow.
In the final episode of "Suits" Season 5, the discovery of the fact that Mike was practicing law without a degree and license put the entire firm in jeopardy. Everyone else was more than willing to transfer to other firms, except of course for the main squad.
Mike decided to marry Rachel before he left for prison; however, at the very last minute, he opted to postpone the wedding and surrender himself to authorities. Mike did not want to keep Rachel in a box while he was in prison. Although his intentions were good, Rachel was still devastated.
According to "Suits" creator Aaron Korsh, Season 6 will immediately pick up from where the previous season left off. In an interview with Yahoo TV, Korsh said that viewers will see Mike spend his first night with prison. They will also see how everyone else does on the first night after discovering that the firm has fallen apart.
For Korsh, the bottomline behind "Suits" Season 6 is simple: "Nothing is ever going to be the same again."
Patrick J. Adams agreed, saying that change is a necessary consequence to what has happened.
A previous tweet from Korsh indicates that Mike and Harvey are still the best of friends. Their relationship is the main arc that made "Suits" what it is. So perhaps the big change involves Mike's relationship with Rachel. Some of Rachel's past loves have been popping up in previous episodes, so there is a possibility that after all they have been through, Rachel will finally feel fed up and find happiness, although temporary, with another.
While viewers may think that the upcoming run of "Suits" Season 6 will be a hard, emotional battle for everyone, actor Gabriel Macht teased that "there will be more of a balance and a playful nature when we come back."
"Maybe we'll see these people smiling a little bit more or we'll see some more witty banter and more playful elements of the show," Macht told Wetpaint.
"Suits" Season 6 will premiere this summer.
