The producers of the Chinese version of “Running Man” released on Friday on its official Weibo account the preview of the episode where South Korean actor Song Joong-ki guested.
Soompi reported that the cast of "Hurry Up, Brother" were surprised and very happy with the guesting of the “Descendants of the Sun” actor on their show. The 30-year-old actor is seen in the video introducing himself to Chinese viewers in Mandarin as well as Song Joong-ki – currently in Bangkok holding a fan meet with his followers in Thailand – competing in various games.
The Korean daily wrote that the reunion of the Korean and Chinese cast of “Running Man” would not be shown in South Korea. PD Lee Hwan Jin said in late April that there are some discussions ongoing, but chances are the “Hurry Up, Brother” where Song Joong-ki guested would not be seen by South Korean fans of the actor.
Lee Hwan Jin attributed it to the different concepts of the Chinese and South Korean versions of the show. Other issues include difficulty in finding a broadcast time and the language problem. However, he shared that it a fun environment and happy collaboration when the Korean cast came to help the Chinese cast in Gyeonggi-do.
It was the Chinese cast that flew to South Korea to shoot “Hurry Up, Brother.” The reunion was led by PD Lum Hyung Taek. Song Joong-ki became close to PD Lum Hyung Taek since the two were part of “Running Man,” while PD Lum Hyung Taek is currently overseesing “Hurry Up, Brother.”
“Running Man” is a variety show in South Korea aired by SBS on Sundays. It premiered on July 11, 2010 and is the current longest-running program in South Korean TV history. The MCs and guests compete at a landmark to win the race.
