BTS, otherwise called Bangtan Boys, are under criticism after leader Rap Monster revealed that the group will now take aim for the Daesang Award.

The seven-member South Korean boy group recently kicked off the "BTS Live Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa on Stage: Epilogue" concert tour at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul on May 7, Saturday, which was attended by nearly 15,000 fans. In the midst of the group's epilogue concert press conference, BTS was asked about their next plan considering that they have achieved their goal to perform at Seoul's biggest stage.

"It's Daesang," Korea's PANN news outlet quoted Rap Monster as saying. "In the past, we're satisfied as the idol who can hold a concert in Gymnastics Arena (Olympic Park). Now, we return to the Gymnastics Arena so we get greedy. Let's try to get Daesang for once. Just like what it is, the grand prize. We want to receive it. We want to have an urge to receive it. It's a Daesang, something we can't even dream about before."

Daesang award or Artist of the Year is the grand prize award given to the best artist in view of their album and digital sales with an online vote and a final judgement by the judges of the festival. Rap Monster's statement was not received well by netizens, stating that taking home a Daesang award is impossible and stressed that the group is totally unknown to the mass public.

"With what song are they going to get daesang ㅋㅋㅋ your new title track? Are you serious?" one netizen wrote in One Hallyu forum post.

BTS - Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Rap Monster, Jungkook - debuted in June 2013 and shortly gained prominence because of the meaningful messages in their music, with lyrics that tackled bullying in school, as well as cultural and social issues among the youth.  In an effort to support of their first compilation album, the group will hold a concert tour in six Asian countries until August 14, including Taiwan, Macau, China, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Further, the boy band has been announced as one of the headliners for this year's KCON Festival in New York City. The annual convention will take place at the Staples Center and LA Convention Center from July 29 to July 31.
