Google's preparation for the Nexus 2016 release date appears in full swing with the I/O Developers Conference just a week away, kick off time is May 18, and old Nexus devices are subject of compelling sales deals. The latest to tempt Android fans is the LG-made Nexus 5 that is now up for grabs for a dirt-cheap tag of $155.

The offer comes from Amazon's Woot and the total cost includes the shipping cost. Buyers are advised to grab the deal with speed as Android Police said that the promo is of limited time, possibly expiring in matter of hours.

Woot is all set to ship out the 32GB Nexus 5, which is the result of the second collaboration between Google and South Korea's LG. While nearing its third year in existence, the device is regarded as ahead of its time boasting a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip that hums at top speed of 2.26GHz. The RAM support is set 2GB, which was the top of its class in 2013 as flagships that came out that year normally had 1GB as maximum RAM provision.

Even the camera prowess is nothing to sneer at, headlined by an 8-megapixel rear sensor that matches the capabilities of rival handsets. The rest of the Nexus 5 deal - a 4.9-inch screen, 1080p display resolution and 2300mAh - should prove more than worthy of the $150 asking price. The Nexus 5 specs, per BGR, "have stood the test of time and it still performs quite well to this day."

The unit that Woot sells is GSM compatible, which means using it on AT&T, T-Mobile and most networks around the world will prove a smooth experience. Android Police recommends the device as a second phone - one that could come in handy when moving around or travelling overseas.

And the investment for this Nexus 5 should deliver the expected returns as not only the specs are still very much capable but also the software is essentially future-proof. Out of the box, the device rocks Android Marshmallow but Android N will be the star of the show once it is ready. Firmware support is likely to remain for a couple more of years, which is the norm for all Nexus devices.

But as compelling as the Nexus 5 is, its fast shrinking price tag also points to one sure thing - the replacement or Google's Nexus 2016 is about to touchdown. Google's I/O is on in just a few days and on that event, the final cut of Android N among other things will be revealed.

To best showcase what Android N really is, Google's family of devices for the year will likewise come out, meaning the Nexus 2016 release date is real soon. Expected by Android fans are two flagship smartphones from HTC and the Nexus 7 2016 tablet rumored to be assembled by Huawei.
