The new companion for the upcoming season of the British science fiction series, "Doctor Who," was recently announced in April. It has been confirmed that theatre actress Pearl Mackie would be joining Peter Capaldi in the new season of "Doctor Who." According to Mackie herself, her character Bill is the cool, strong, and smart companion fans should look forward to.
Longtime followers of the show are undoubtedly excited for the introduction of Bill to the series. However, many still wonder if Jack Harkness, a Doctor Who fan favorite, would be returning to the program come "Doctor Who" Season 10.
In 2015, Cinema Blend caught up with John Barrowman, the actor who played Jack Harkness, in order to discuss the possibility of his return to "Doctor Who." Since Barrowman currently holds a role on The CW series "Arrow," his appearance on "Doctor Who" Season 10 depends whether or not they want him to return, and if "Arrow" producers would allow him to shoot for the BBC series.
"If they asked me I would be more than happy to go back. The Arrow producers said they would allow me to go do it, but I've never been asked and I don't know if I will be," quipped by Barrowman in an interview.
More recently, Barrowman, who is in the thick of a book promotional tour, posted a video on his Facebook page in May 7. The actor is currently in Cardiff, a famous "Doctor Who" location, for a book signing event. However, in the video, he hinted that he would be coming back to Cardiff after his engagements in London. The actor has since remained mum about why he would be returning to the city, which led fans to assume that he would return to the city in order to shoot an episode for "Doctor Who" Season 10.
As of the moment, no specific date has been set for the "Doctor Who" Season 10 premiere; however, according to BBC One controller Charlotte Moore, the tenth season of the program and the last season for its showrunner, Steven Moffat, would return by spring of 2017.
