Following the massive success of "Deadpool," 20th Century Fox has committed to producing an "X-Men" movie spin-off titled "New Mutants." Much of the details about the movie remain under wraps, but producer Simon Kinberg has revealed enough information to satisfy fans' hunger for the new superhero franchise.

The upcoming adaptation of Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod's Marvel comic series will be directed by "The Fault in Our Stars" director Josh Boone. He also co-wrote the movie together with Knata Lee. As a matter of fact, a second draft of the film has been submitted to Kinberg.

"New Mutants," which focuses on the teenage mutant superheroes-in-training, is said to have a "YA vibe." That said, the spinoff will feature scenes at Professor Xavier's School for the Gifted, confirming Professor X's appearance in the film.

"Right now, as the movie exists, Professor X would be a part of a New Mutants movie," Collider quoted Kinberg as saying. It is unverified if Professor X in "New Mutants" will be played by James McAvoy or Patrick Stewart. The next "X-Men" film after "X-Men: Apocalypse" will take place in the '90s. Since "New Mutants" is slated for a 2017 release, it is likely that the setting will also take place in the 90s, making it more possible for McAvoy to fill in for the key role.

Aside from Professor X, Kinberg teased that it is possible for some of the characters from the main "X-Men" movies may crossover to "New Mutants."

"I would say it's likely that you will see some familiar faces," Kinberg said.

Meanwhile, Boone dropped some hints about the character lineup for the "New Mutants" movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boone shared six photos through Instagram featuring mutants Magik, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Cannonball, Sunspot and Warlock. These characters arguably comprise the core team in "New Mutants."

Casting rumblings suggested that Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") may join the cast as Wolfsbane, while Anya Taylor-Joy ("The Witch") may play Magik. One report claimed that Alexandra Shipp will reprise her role as Storm in "New Mutants."
