Google has re-wired the way iPhone messaging apps worked by introducing Gboard, a new cooler keyboard that adds the power of Google search to texting apps. The new iPhone keyboard is now available on App Store.
Gboard keyboard was first rumored to be under development targeting iOS. After Google finally launched the keyboard, as predicted, it is available on App Store but not on Play Store, Financial Review reported.
Google's Gboard keyboard boasts some amazing specs that no other iPhone app offers at the time and surely it is much hi-tech than standard iPhone keyboard. Most significant features include GIF and image search right from the messaging app.
This also means that web searches can be performed using Gboard on any app, which is very useful for sending links and URLs. Moreover, an emoji search bar lets users find their desirable emoji with just a few taps.
The new Gboard allows users to swipe between letters when typing, considerably increasing the typing speed. However, iPhone users will not be able to use shortcuts of the previous keyboard. Gboard has replaced shortcuts with smart suggestions that do come handy.
Users do not have to worry about their privacy because Gboard's privacy policy declares that Google will not store anything people type except for the search keywords. The new smarter keyboard also learns your typing preferences over time.
Shedding light on what happens to adaptive words, like users name, the privacy policy said that such personalized information would stay on the device and will not be channeled back to Google's datacenters. Furthermore, the search history can also be deleted from the privacy settings no Gboard.
The app requires a few steps on the first launch to set up user preference and some users may also have to set Gboard as their default keyboard from iPhone's setting. This will override standard iPhone keyboard.
So whether users are texting, chatting, or emailing, by the virtue of Gboard, they can now empower their conversation with Google search. The addition of links, URLs, YouTube video, GIFs, flight details, and emojis make it a very user-friendly utility app.
Google Gboard keyboard makes the second messaging app enhancements this week, first being the integration of Google Translate with the same philosophy of letting people do what they want without leaving the app. Google Translate was rolled out on May 11, Wednesday, as reported by Android Headlines.
