After Sony unveiled Xperia XA Ultra, it proved its claim that its new line of mid-range Xperia X smartphone would be camera-centric. The latest line of 6-inch model Xperia X smartphone range packs a Mediatek processor, huge 6-inch display and 16 MP front camera.

XA Ultra has a a 21.5-megapixel Exmor RS main camera with quick launch and hybrid autofocus. It boasts a 16-megapixel low-light sensor with a front flash and optical image stabilization (OIS) for blur-free shots. The 16MP front camera feature makes this device a perfect nighttime selfie smartphone, according to Ars Technica.

The powerful selfie camera offers a gesture control feature that allows the users to wave their hands in front of the lens to initiate a shutter timer. The smart cameras in Xperia XA Ultra are fitted on its 6-inch huge 1080p display screen with a pixel density of 367ppi. The edgy display is enclosed in a metal frame that makes it look classy at its mid-range level.

Sony was not the first to offer huge phones with powerful selfie cameras. HTC came up with its 13 MP Desire Eye earlier. iPhone6s and Samsung Galaxy S7 have 5MP front-facing cameras that also provide decent selfies.

Under the hood, the Xperia XA Ultra is powered by an 8-core Mediatek MT6755 processor, and comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Users could expand it using a microSD card to 200GB. The device is running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

XA Ultra comes with a 2,700mAh battery that is supposed to last up to 2 days on a single charge, GSM Arena quoted Sony as saying. However, its 2,700mAh battery seemed not to coincide with Sony's claim. In case the user runs out of battery, a quick charger that needs to be purchased separately becomes handy because it allows 5.5-hour battery life by just charging for 10 minutes.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra is expected to be available in the market in July 2016. Color options include Lime Gold, White and Black. Sony has not released the pricing for this gadget yet.
