After introducing a series of new products, the China-based Xiaomi Technology is still working on expanding its products and territory. The Beijing-based company is set to release a number of products soon, and talks about its entry into the U.S. market with a new TV set-top box were recently confirmed.
In the company's latest video broadcast obtained by Android Headlines, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun opened up about the company's upcoming products and possible target dates of release. Mi Band 2 Fitness Tracker may possibly be launched next month, while Xiaomi is also working on the introduction of Mi Note 2 flagship phablet and Mi drone at no specified dates.
Lei Jun also hinted at Xiaomi VR, which is most probably the China tech giant's virtual reality headset. The CEO claimed that the virtual reality tech is currently in the process, but no exact date of launching was mentioned.
Other future Xiaomi innovations that are expected to be in the market soon include a curved display smartphone as well as wireless charging products. Lei Jun also shared that the company is considering a its own robot in the future.
The Xiaomi CEO confirmed that the company is coming up with a split screen MIUI feature. He branded the Xiaomi SoC, Notebook or the Mi Note 2 as the company's top secrets and did not elaborate on these products.
Xiaomi is targeting at selling more than 70 smartphones this 2016 as the company is doing its best to explore more products and boundaries. Meanwhile, Xiaomi just recently revealed its partnership with Google for releasing a new TV set-top box called Mi Box in the United States.
Mi Box will be Xiaomi's first Android entry into the U.S. because it is only selling accessories through its online store. The China tech giant will be supporting Google's Android TV, which was earlier supported by Nvidia.
"This is a significant milestone for Xiaomi and I am really excited to be working closely with Google," South China Morning Post quoted Xiaomi vice president Hugo Barra as saying. Xiaomi will also be collaborating with Google for the latter's virtual reality devices called Daydream.
No price or set date for its release was announced for Xiaomi's Mi Box. It has a local price of 299 yuan (HK$355).
