Gamamaru 'the Sage' - The Toad sage, who prophesized the arrival of Naruto as the savior of Shinobi world, has already lived long before Kaguya's time. He's the one who warned the Otsutsuki siblings of the dark secret behind the Divine Tree which their mother, Kaguya, has been protecting and preserving through a scared ritual.
Hagoromo awakens the Sharingan - The Sage of the Six Paths is known in the Shinobi world as the progenitor of the great dojutsu - the Rinnegan. But like all ninjas who achieved the power of Rinnegan, Hagoromo first awakened the Sharingan out of his hatred and despair for the death of his love interest Haori, who was sacrificed by Kaguya as part of his ritual for the Divine Tree.
Sage of Six Paths is the first disciple of Sage Art: The pain of losing someone endeared led Hagoromo and Hamura back to Gamamaru in the land of the toads. There, they learned the origin of their mother and the Divine Tree along the events before they were born into this world. Hagoromo then decided to harness nature energy, becoming a Toad Sage in the event they clashed with their mother.
Episode 462: I Created the Past
After learning that Hagoromo is training with Gamamaru, Kaguya summoned his children to explain the matter. The matriarch of the Otsutsuki clan soon learned that his sons are plotting behind her back, prompting him to unleash her true power. The next scene is the legendary battle between Hagoromo and the Rabbit Demon.
