Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar de la Hoya has expressed his interest in arranging an all-Mexican showdown. This will be between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

De la Hoya acknowledged the fact that if ever this fight between the Mexican superstars happened, it would be one of the most awaited and looked forward to in boxing history. However, he admitted that at this point of time, making this fight happen is impossible due to the differences between the two fighters.

Chavez is known to be the former World Boxing Council middleweight champion with stats of 48-1-1 and 32 knockout victories. But the former champion changed his track and is now fighting at 175 pounds.

Alvarez, on the other hand, has a record of 44-1-1 with 36 knockouts and is the former world junior welterweight champion. He is now fighting at 154 pounds.

De la Hoya told the reporters that he would want to arrange this showdown, but it is unfeasible for the moment due to the disparity in size, weight, and division, Boxing Scene reported.

Alvarez was supposed to have a face-off against Miguel Cotto, but it did not happen because the two parties failed to find a common ground between the two. Following this letdown, Alvarez's side declared that James Kirkland would be his next opponent.

The Hall of Fame boxer de la Hoya said that the Alvarez-Kirkland fight would happen on the weekend of Cinco de Mayo, which will be on May 2. However, he said that they will have to postpone the showdown a week later (May 9) if ever the Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown takes place on May 2. He said that this is the only fight that is going to move them.

Also, de la Hoya recently commented on Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. He told Yahoo Sports that "Bob is a smart guy; a very smart guy."

The Alvarez-Kirkland showdown is a nontitle fight, but this is will nonetheless add to Canelo's popularity in the field. They are very keen to this showdown and will be announcing the ticket details soon.
