In 2015, Detroit rapper Marshall Mathers III, 43, professionally called Eminem, released a song titled "Phenomenal." The single is from the soundtrack of the boxing film "Southpaw" starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Forest Whitaker.

Recently, Eminem provided an annotation of the lyrics of "Phenomenal," particularly with the second verse of the song, on Genius. He wrote, "I don't know why people have suggested I name my next album 'Empower' or 'Empart.'"

"This has been said to me so many times over the years," Eminem added. "If I were to name an album with such a stupid play on my name it obviously should be called 'Empanada.'"

It is rumored that Eminem is set to release his ninth studio album. However, the "Rap God" rapper has yet to confirm the release date of his new studio album.

Eminem's most recent studio album was "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," which was released on Nov. 5, 2013. The album has 16 tracks including "Rap God" and collaboration songs "Love Game" featuring Kendrick Lamar, "Headlights" featuring Nate Ruess, "The Monster" featuring Rihanna, who is in talks with M.I.A. for collaboration, Billboard has learned.

On July 24, 2015, Eminem co-executive produced the official soundtrack of "Southpaw" woth his manager Paul Rosenberg. The soundtrack album has 14 tracks, including a collaboration song titled "Drama Never Ends" with Eminem's protégé 50 Cent, who also starred in "Southpaw."

Executive produced by DJ Khalil, "Phenomenal" was co-written by Eminem with Mario Resto and Luis Resto. The music video of the song was directed by Rich Lee, a music video and commercial director signed to DNA in the United States and Flynn Productions in the United Kingdom who also directed the music video of "Rap God."

Filmed in Hong Kong, the "Phenomenal" music video features Eminem as someone with superhuman abilities but is suffering from memory loss and manages to get out from the hospital and come out on the streets. The video also features "Fresh off the Boat" star Randall Park and Dr. Dre, who ranked the second richest hip-hop artist in a list recently released by Forbes.
