There are rumors that Apple MacBook Pro 2016 may come with the virtual assistant Siri. It may be one of the integral features of OS X 10.12, which is expected to be launched with the upcoming laptop.

This is the first time that Apple will introduce Siri in laptops. With the screenshots of the Siri app icon and the menu bar in the Apple dock shared by MacRumors, it appears that company is working to bring the functionality to the laptop arena.

The screenshots show a white and black Siri icon in the menu bar, which is surrounded by a square box. Whereas Siri's icon on the dock is colorful and showcases a waveform in the pink and blue colors.

When the user clicks on either one of the icons then a waveform emerges, which gives the impression that the virtual assistant is ready to take voice commands. Apart from these two icons, users can also access Siri through the "Hey Siri" voice-activation command. However, this command needs to enabled in the Preferences menu as it is disabled by default.

Reportedly, Apple is working on developing and refining Siri's capabilities for the desktop version. However, it will still be able to do the tasks that it does on the other iOS devices such as performing web searches, sending messages, reading emails, opening apps, controlling HomeKit and setting up calendar events.

Rumors also suggest that the final icon design of Siri for the desktop version is not finalized. The company has to choose between the colorful waveform and the black and white text-based icon.

Apple seems to be following in the footsteps of Windows 10 virtual office assistant Cortana. Older laptops who upgrade to OS X 10.12 will also be able to enjoy the features of Siri in their devices.

MacBook Pro is expected to launch at WorldWide Developers Conference, which is taking place in California from June 13-17. Apple may also launch their latest iOS 10 operating system at this event, according to another report by Mac Rumors.
