Google has recently introduced their new rich cards feature which makes search results on mobile phones more visually appealing and actually informative instead of the standard results.

Searching on mobile phones can sometimes be a hassle because of the small screen and limited search result space. It would be easier to search for an item or an event on the desktop version.

Google is now making mobile search easier and more informative with their rich cards format, which is basically an improved version of their previous rich snippets. The search engine giant is not expected to replace the old standard format with the rich cards.

Search results for movies and recipes will be given the rich card format treatment first, Engadget reported.  If a user searches for a recipe for Pesto pasta or "The Secret Life of Pets," they will see the rich card format displayed on their mobile phone or tablet's screen.

Google is still working out some kinks and bugs on the new feature. It is currently available for the English version of their search engine but the company plans to roll out more languages and more search term capabilities.

"We're starting to show rich cards for two content categories: recipes and movies. They will appear initially on mobile search results in English for google.com. We're actively experimenting with more opportunities to provide more publishers with a rich preview of their content," Google said in their official blog post.

Websites that provide more info and photos for the search terms involved would probably get more views and web traffic. The rich card format could also be used for bodybuilding exercises searches where a user might search for how a particular exercise is performed through images.

Besides movies, Google could also expand the format for TV shows as well. They can also work on artists, directors and more.

The rich card format contains photos of the subject plus a brief description of the images available, Phone Arena reported. Video games could also be make use of the format as most people search for how a game looks.

Google's effort to make mobile users happy makes sense as the Android platform expands too. The rich card format will expand to more topics and languages soon.
