"Whether the songs I perform at the upcoming concerts are old or new ones is not included in my consideration," Cheung was quoted as saying in CRI report. "Instead, I focus on the ways how to perform these songs and which parts need to be highlighted through my performances."

"So, in fact, when I planned to arrange the concerts, I hadn't thought too much about the ratio of new songs to old ones," added Cheung.

"2016 A Classic Tour" will start in Oct. 21. Aside from Beijing, Cheung will also be holding his concerts in Wuhan, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chongqing and Guangzhou.

Three additional shows are scheduled for March next year in Shanghai, according to the website.

Popularly known as one of Hong Kong's "Four Heavenly Kings," Cheung made his way through stardom by joining an amateur singing contest in mid-1980s.

In 1994, the Billboard Music Awards named Cheung as Asia's most popular singer. He was recognized by the World Music Awards as the best-selling Chinese singer in 1995, and among Time Magazine's 25 Most Influential People in Hong Kong in 1996.

The celebrity is also one of the Top 10 Outstanding Young Persons in 1999.

Aside from singing, Cheung is also known for his acting skills, having won the Best Supporting Actor trophies at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Award for his roles in "As Tears Go By" and "Swordsman," respectively.

Cheung's work in the 2001 film "July Rhapsody" also earned him the Best Actor recognition at the New Delhi Film Festival.
